As Steve Harvey prepares to talk his daytime talk show to Los Angeles, CA this fall, most would assume the famed comedian’s staff would be looking forward to his arrival. But, his recent memo may have changed everything. Numerous reports have revealed Steve sent a memo to his staff for the upcoming talk show Steve and it doesn’t exactly offer a warm welcome. In fact, the letter will probably make most fans’ views of him even worse.
No Time For BS?:
The memo was reportedly sent to Steve Harvey’s staff was made public by Robert Feder’s Chicago media blog. Steve made his sentiments very clear with his list of demands highlighting his new way of doing business. Apparently, talk show staffers are not allowed to talk to Steve unless he asks them to. “Do not come to my dressing room unless invited….Do not approach me while I’m in the makeup chair unless I ask to speak with you directly,” read the memo. “Do not take offense to the new way of doing business. It is for the good of my personal life and enjoyment.”
Here’s the text from the full letter via Robert Feder:
Good morning, everyone. Welcome back.
I’d like you all to review and adhere to the following notes and rules for Season 5 of my talk show. There will be no meetings in my dressing room. No stopping by or popping in. NO ONE. Do not come to my dressing room unless invited. Do not open my dressing room door. IF YOU OPEN MY DOOR, EXPECT TO BE REMOVED. My security team will stop everyone from standing at my door who have the intent to see or speak to me.
I want all the ambushing to stop now. That includes TV staff. You must schedule an appointment. I have been taken advantage of by my lenient policy in the past. This ends now. NO MORE. Do not approach me while I’m in the makeup chair unless I ask to speak with you directly. Either knock or use the doorbell. I am seeking more free time for me throughout the day. Do not wait in any hallway to speak to me. I hate being ambushed. Please make an appointment. I promise you I will not entertain you in the hallway, and do not attempt to walk with me.
If you’re reading this, yes, I mean you. Everyone, do not take offense to the new way of doing business. It is for the good of my personal life and enjoyment.
Thank you all,
Steve Harvey
In addition to the complications Steve’s new staff may experience, it looks like his current Steve Harvey Show staff will have even bigger problems. Once the show shuts down at NBC Tower, approximately 80 employees will be jobless. According to Radar Online, staffers were not informed about the abrupt changes. “He didn’t offer interviews to many people who have been with him since beginning, and hurt lots of people who would move on their own to L.A. to be part of the new show,” the publication reported last week. “Steve never even addressed the staff about it. He never said a word about them all losing their jobs.”
Bigger and Better Things:
Steve’s alleged controversial memo to staffers follows another statement released about the show. Steve apparently explained how the new daytime show will differ from his other talk show endeavors. “As I embark on this new adventure, I’m excited to explore everything Los Angeles has to offer for this new show,” Harvey said in a statement. “‘Steve’ is going to be different than my current daytime show. The new location will allow me to welcome more celebrity guests and more importantly let me do what I enjoy doing best, being funny.”
NBC Universal also released a statement about the new show and what fans can expect from Steve. Ari Emanuel, co-CEO of William Morris Endeavor and brother of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, will manage the new show. Emanuel’s IMG production company is also set to produce the show. “With his move to the West Coast, viewers can expect more celebrity interviews from Steve in addition to his famed comedic viewpoint on all things pop culture,” according to the network.
Dragged On Social Media:
As expected, Steve catching all kinds of flack yet again. Ever since he publicly expressed support of President Donald Trump and defended him amid controversy, fans have been giving Steve the side eye. Now, he’s catching hell on social media over this new situation…

Steve is set to air on September 5 at 2 p.m. weekdays on the NBC-owned channel WMAQ.
Until then let’s end this one with Natalie Cole’s classic, “I’m Catching Hell” to soothe our souls and sum up Steve’s current unfortunate predicament…
