Siedah Garret is known for many things – she co-wrote Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” and “Keep the Faith” with MJ and sang on their duet “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.” She’s sang background and written several hits for other artists like The Pointer Sisters, Quincy Jones, Tevin Campbell, Donna Summer, Madonna, Jennifer Hudson and more. Garrett was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and won a Grammy for co-writing “Love You I Do” (performed by Jennifer Hudson) for the 2006 musical film, Dreamgirls.
Her face first became most recognizable after she and Dennis Edwards (of the Temptations) dropped their 80’s classic and had everybody singing “Day-o day-o, mombajee ai-o, well/Don’t look any further/Day-o day-o, mombajee ai-o, well/Don’t look any further!” Remember that? That song is still the bomb today.
So after accomplishing everything she has in music, Siedah’s one of the Old School artists/songwriters who is fortunate enough to still get paid from her hard work today. She recently posted a photo of her first music payment from Google Music for her newest single, “Cupid Is A DJ.” Y’all GOTS to see how much money she made…turn the page…
