R&B legend, Shanice Wilson, just let the world in on something serious. The powerhouse vocalist who blessed us with that timeless track, “I Love Your Smile,” recently opened up about a major health scare. In an emotional reveal, Shanice shared that she had to undergo life-saving double mastectomy surgery, and the journey has been anything but easy.

Shanice took to her Instagram to break the news, saying, revealing that she had “stage one one centimeter tumor one of my breasts.” She explained that when she’d initially undergone the surgery three months prior, she wasn’t yet comfortable enough to share the news publicly. But now she feels “strong enough” to do so now.

The surgery wasn’t just about looks or convenience; it was about survival. Shanice kept it real with her followers, sharing, “This surgery saved my life, and I’m thankful for all the prayers and love sent my way.”

“Please everyone get checked,” she urged before thanking her team of doctors and herbalists who helped her get through this. She also thanked her husband of 24 years –actor, Flex Alexander– for “helping me get through the hardest time of my life,” adding, “You helped me every day with my drains and cooked all my meals. I love you. I am healed and restored in Jesus name.”

Life throws us curve balls and we can either crumble or stand strong, i thought child birth was deep but that pales in comparison to the valley she’s come through! Ladies Please STAY ON TOP of your mammograms , screenings, ultra sounds etc!! This experience was eye opening and so surreal and i am thankful she’s come out on the other side of it all💖💖🎀🎀🙏🏾🙏🏾 thank you to all of our friends, family and supporters.”

In true Shanice fashion, even in the face of something so terrifying, she’s staying positive. She’s not just surviving—she’s thriving. She returned to Instagram a day after announcing her surgery, to express her deep gratitude to everyone for their kind words, while also displaying her positive message of hope and faith. She declared, “God is not done with me yet,” while simultaneously reminding everyone to stay on top of their health. And to the delight of her fans, the 51-year-old songstress also announced that she will be droppin’ new music in the near future, and we cannot wait!
