Though millions loved the “Wonderful World” hitmaker, there were millions of African Americans who did not love his perceived ‘sell-out, Uncle Tom’ ways outside of music. Apparently, Satchmo even became tired of being a ‘happy Black man with the plastered smile.’ He hit a breaking point and UNLEASHED on then president, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the governor of Arkansas after a racist incident against finally pissed him off to the point of no return.
