Mary J. Blige and her estranged husband Kendu Isaacs have been at the center of a nasty divorce battle for months now. Like many celebrity splits, there’s one aspect of the divorce they can’t seem to come to an agreement on – the money. Of course, everyone knows the vast majority of the fortune they shared and the lavish lifestyle they were afforded is the result of Mary’s hard work and success.
However, Kendu adamantly believes he’s entitled to a big chunk of Mary’s change. For those who missed it, Kendu sparked a media firestorm when he demanded a whopping $110,000 a month in spousal support along with a laundry list of other seemingly outlandish requests including $5,000 a month for his parents and funds to cover expenses for his children. Needless to say, the “Not Gon’ Cry” singer isn’t going down without a fight. Now, Mary has reportedly opened up about another jaw-dropping allegation against Kendu and if it’s proven to be true, her estranged husband may be fighting a losing battle.
Blowing Money?:
According to People magazine, Mary is reportedly accusing Kendu of blowing a staggering $420,000 on his lover. That’s right. Kendu is said to have spent $420,000 of Mary’s money on his new girlfriend. It has been reported that Kendu wrote off extravagant spending as “travel expenses.” While such a staggering amount may not have raised any flags when he was managing Mary and traveling with her, such spending raises lots of speculation now since he’s no longer employed and fighting to receive $110,000 a month, which would only equate to approximately one-fourth of what he’s been accused of spending.
Setting the Record Straight:
In the legal documents that have been made public, Mary has made it clear, she has no desire to be held responsible for Kendu’s alleged financial obligation to his parents and children from a previous relationship. By now, everyone knows Mary and Kendu did not have children together, so the Grammy Award-winning singer does not believe it’s a financial obligation she should be held accountable for.
“I am not responsible for supporting [Martin’s] parents and his children from another relationship which he lists as ongoing monthly expenses,” Blige said in the legal papers.
The latest report follows a string of reports about Kendu’s financial requests. Mary discussed the pending divorce during an interview on Power 105.1. She revealed a lot of the issues that contributed to the divorce centered around “overwhelming disrespect.”
“I can sense that I’m not what you want anymore,” she said. “Because now you start throwing questions around like, ‘Why don’t you cook?’ I haven’t been cooking. ‘Why you don’t wear your hair like that?’ I never wore my hair like this before … You start to realize that this man doesn’t want you and he’s just gone all the time and you’re by yourself in the relationship.”
Hopefully, the divorce drama is over soon so Mary can move on with her life.
