current Top 40 band.
“It’s extortionate for a band that hasn’t done anything for years to be charging that much,” he said.
“My gut feeling is that they are going to struggle to sell tickets at that price.”
Australia’s top social analyst David Chalke said he was “gobsmacked.”
“I guess the market will have to decide whether they want to pay that for a has-been band,” he said.
Courier-Mail music writer Noel Mengel said correct ticket pricing was crucial to a successful tour.
“Occasionally tours come along with ridiculously high ticket prices, usually for bands that are past their peak,” he said.
“The tour probably won’t do well and chances are you won’t see the artist again either.”
But Frazer Bourke, director of Metropolis Touring, is confident that Boyz II Men ticket sales are going well, with 826 out of 2,000 (41 per cent) already snapped up.
“We will probably end up selling out,” he added.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but calling Boyz II Men “has-beens” is just disrespectful. I think there is a difference between has-beens and legends. If the person who made the above comment thinks that Maroon 5 is legendary, shouldn’t Boyz II Men be considered just as legendary, given the amount of records they’ve sold, the impact they made on music, and the length of time they’ve actively been in the music industry?
As far as Boyz II Men’s concert ticket prices, do you think they are appropriate, or overpriced?
I feel they are appropriate. People pay what they want for whatever they like and if fans want to see the show, they’ll pay the cost. I could see if they were in some rinky dink theater and asking for astronomical amounts. That would be cause for concern. But you get what you pay for and BIIM is definitely worth it. Most people are not cheap, they’re broke, and maybe they feel the cost is to high for this type of event. That’s their prerogative. But to speak harshly about a group as legendary as Boyz II Men because you choose not to pay the price, that’s not fair. If you don’t like it, don’t go. The additional commentary is not necessary.
