One thing that remains identical with Taraji P. Henson and her Empire character Cookie Lyon is that she goes hard for her television family. And with the recent ordeal surrounding Jussie Smollett and the firestorm of controversy related to his alleged hate crime in Chicago she has remained very silent about what the repercussions of the case have done to the Empire cast. Until now.
Support Before The Fall
Back in January when the alleged attack took place Taraji immediately lent her support to Jussie on her Twitter page.
I wish what happened to my baby was just one big bad joke but it wasn’t and we all feel his pain right now. @jussiesmollett is pure love to the bone AND THAT IS WHY SO MANY ARE FEELING… https://t.co/AIaBaDvx7g

She, like so many other people who were shocked by the attack, showed Jussie so much love in the aftermath. And then, as more details poured in and the narrative shifted, the support began leaning more towards skepticism. Ultimately as the whole case began to unravel many changed their minds about what they originally thought, and that strain put a lot of negative press on both Jussie and the entire situation.
And once Jussie was charged, and then the charges were dropped, people were still left with many unanswered questions. Understandably, this affected the morale of the Empire cast.
