Tasha Smith Goes Into Further Details About Her Past As A Stripper and Comedian

Tasha Smith has been enjoying a successful run for the past few years with roles in major blockbusters like Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? and its sequel Why Did I Get Married , Too? She’s also been in television shows like The Game and Fox’s super successful series Empire. One of the reasons for her success has to be the fact that she’s relatable and down to Earth. So when she appeared on a recent episode of TV One’s Uncensored she had no other choice but to be her 100% authentic self, even going into more detail about her past life as a comedian/stripper.

She Had Some Interesting Jobs

Back in 2017 during an appearance on The Breakfast Club Tasha joked about how she was once paying her bills by taking on a multitude of jobs. However, the most interesting combination of jobs she worked at that time was stripping and doing comedy. That must have made for some really funny material for her act, especially since she’d often leave one stage for the next on the exact same night. She further explained her motivation for working both gigs;

“Back in the day I was so broke, I was doing stand up comedy…back in the day you didn’t really make a lot of money doing stand-up. […] Sometimes you might make 15, 20 bucks…it wasn’t a lot of money. Also so for me, I needed to survive. For me, I needed to support my comedy career, my acting career.[…] Most of the comics I know, didn’t even know I was stripping. I would go from the comedy club, to the strip club, do a quick 3-4 hour set…go back to the strip club. […] So it was just a way that I was just surviving. But I got out of the club.”

Tasha had bigger dreams and eventually they all came true when she was able to retire from the broke hustle life and settle into acting full time. On Sunday night she appeared on an episode of TV One’s series Uncensored and before it aired she sat down with Ebony to give a very candid interview about how her faith kept her going during those uncertain times.
