In our What-The-Hell news of the day, rapper, T.I. (real name, Clifford Harris), had a rough go of it at an Atlanta airport Sunday (8/4/24).  He was arrested in one of the oddest cases of mistaken identity ever.

According to reports, “Tiny” Harris’s hubby was minding his own biz’ at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on Sunday. But sometimes when things are going smooth sailing, there may be a choppy tide or two ahead– or in T.I.’s case, an outright disastrous one. That was the case regarding T.I.’s traveling day…and speaking of cases, he may have a rock-solid one against whichever entities (airport, airport officials, Clayton County, etc) are responsible for this major slip-up…if he chooses to go that route.

What Had Happened Was…

So, what happened was that there is apparently a warrant out for a man named Clifford Harris, who is reportedly wanted in Baltimore, MD. Although the ‘wanted’ Clifford shares the same name as T.I.’s real name, law enforcement at the ATL airport were somehow unaware that there could actually be two people in the world who could possibly share that same name.

As a result, Clifford Harris, as in T.I., was the dude the officials decided to wrongfully scoop up that day..instead of the actual suspect.

TMZ reported, “The suspect is wanted for alleged involvement in violent behavior toward a woman, stalking, and possibly involving a gun.” However, T.I. was the Clifford who was arrested and taken to Clayton County Jail in Atlanta, straight from the airport. To make matters even worse, because the Baltimore warrant was issued out of state, immediately following his arrest, an automatic extradition hearing was initiated for T.I. to be extradited to Baltimore…Laaaawd 🤦🏽‍♂️. But there’s more…

As if T.I.’s airport arrest couldn’t get any weirder, there was one red flag that should have caught at least one of the arresting officers attention BEFORE this whole fiasco went down. The real suspect-Clifford-Harris is reportedly listed on the warrant as weighing 205 pounds. However, not one of the officers apparently sized up T.I. long enough to notice his reported weight of 165 pounds. Strange, I tell ya.’ 🤦🏽‍♂️

T.I.’s Lawyer Stepped In

Thankfully, once T.I. was taken to Clayton County Jail he was able to get his lawyer, Steve Sadow, on the phone…who reportedly dialed up the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office to get this whole thing straightened out. T.I. was released two hours later– as in two hours of his life that I’m pretty sure he would’ve been doing far more productive things with.

At this point, it’s unclear if T.I. plans to pursue any legal action for any pubic humiliation and/or wrongful detainment he’s experienced.
