This unfortunate malfunction aside Ariana’s set was praised by many. However, now it’s being reported that Beyonce was paid significantly less than Ariana. Actually, according to Variety (via MSN), Ariana made eight million dollars in opposition to Beyonce’s four million.
According to Variety, Ariana Grande was paid $8 million to headline Coachella this year, a staggering fee by any standard – but even more so considering that Beyoncé was reportedly paid half that amount to headline in 2018.
Of course, when word got out of the disparity in their compensation Black Twitter immediately threw their fists in the air to ride hard for King Bey, and they were just as unapologetic with their opinions as Beyonce was with her performance.

Ariana Grande being paid twice as much as @Beyonce to headline #Coachella is livin proof that as an African American you LITERALLY have to be twice as good to get half as much.

Perhaps Beyonce took a pay cut at the time because she knew she’d still make a ton of money once the documentary and live album came out. Also, it’s a pretty bold move on her part to release both projects around the exact same time as Coachella, especially two projects directly linked to one of the best performances of her career. Either way, Ariana and Beyonce will continue to captivate audiences with their talent and drive. However, I think this tweet sums up the situation perfectly.
