Houston megachurch pastor, Joel Osteen, caught a ton of flack over his days-late opening of his Houston church to Harvey hurricane victims. After a few contradictory statements regarding his reasons why he did not do like many other public businesses and/or churches had immediately done to help the thousands of displaced residents- open his 16,800 seat-church’s doors for them- he got dragged from Texas to Timbuktu all over the internet. *Scroll down for Tyler Perry’s video message*

Now that Osteen has finally opened his Lakewood church’s doors to the people of Houston,  Perry is speaking out in his defense. Tyler’s just revealed that he spoke to Osteen about his delayed offer to help the Houston community that has made him a multi-millionaire pastor. After getting an explanation from Osteen, Perry said he realized that Osteen’s intentions weren’t bad after all, but were instead due to “safety issues” that Osteen, his wife,  and team were trying to insure were in place first.

In addition to speaking on the Joel Osteen topic, Tyler Perry also revealed that he is making a HUGE donation to fund the charities and organizations helping Hurricane Harvey victims. He’s donating $1MILLION to them and that includes Osteen’s church as well. Tyler’s dividing the $1 million into giving $250K to Osteen’s church, another $250K to Beyonce’s pastor’s church in Houston, and the remaining $500K will go to various hurricane relief funds in Houston and surrounding areas affected by the hurricane.

Other $1 Million Donators

By the way, Tyler isn’t the only one in the million dollar donation club.  Actress, Sandra Bullock; and actor, Leonardo Dicaprio have each generously donated $1 mill’ to Hurricane Harvey fund reliefs. And oh yeah, according to a new report, so will Donald Trump…hmmm.
