Mo’Nique has been at the center of drama and controversy quite a bit these days and now it looks like she’s facing problems yet again. According to News One, Mo’Nique is facing another financial battle but this time Netflix isn’t the problem; it’s Uncle Sam.
Money Woes:
It has been reported that Mo’Nique reportedly owes the government more than $560,000 – $560,625.72 to be exact. Reports suggest that the latest lien, filed in 2016, was the result of unpaid taxes from 2013 and 2014. “In 2016, she had a tax lien filed against her for the years ending 2013 and 2014 for a total of $389,904.98. Last fall, the federal government said she was late paying her taxes in 2015 as well to the tune of $170,720.74.”
Mo Money, Mo Problems:
Mo’Nique’s latest financial situation follows her highly publicized rant about being lowballed by Netflix. The famed comedian/actress outed the popular streaming network over the seemingly disrespectful offer that was presented. She, with the support of her husband Sidney Hicks, also revealed stipulations that came with the contract offer and offered tons of receipts for everyone who criticized her. For those who missed it, Mo’Nique was highly offended by the offer she was given because Netflix had offered Amy Schumer a whopping $11 million. She expressed how she believed she was lowballed because of her color. Because of that, Mo’Nique urged fans to help her “make it make sense” and boycott Netflix.

But now that reports are circulating about Mo’Nique’s problem with Uncle Sam, many fans believe the $500,000 from Netflix doesn’t sound so bad. Fans are also criticizing Mo’Nique for declining the deal with Netflix and taking an offer for a stage play. Although fans are on the outside lookin’ in, to them, it seems a bit backward.
