If it ain’t one thing, it’s another for Steve Harvey. At least, that’s the way his life has seemed to go for the past year and a half or so.
From his Miss Universe pageant screw up, to Trump’s Black celebrity friends photo-op meeting, to Harvey’s ex-wife recently bashing him for what she says he’s done to her, Harvey just can’t seem to catch a break these days. And today is no different, according to what Radar Online reported about some of Harvey’s employees in Chicago. Steve announced that he will be ending his nationally syndicated Chicago based TV talk show and starting his new show in September, titled, Steve. He’s also said to be officially relocating his business from Chicago to Los Angeles. Although prior to this, he’s been working bicoastal between Cali and Chi-town for his many projects.
Steve’s new show and relocation may seem like no big deal to us on the outside, but according to RadarOnline, it’s a major deal to those on the inside of Steve’s Chicago based business. His Chi-town staffers are reportedly pissed off that they’re getting fired, with no offer by Harvey to relocate with him. See details below…
Harvey Employee Speaks Out…
Via RO: Harvey, 60, is ending his Chicago-based syndicated daytime talk show later this month, and will be launching a whole new show in La La Land in September, simply titled ‘Steve.’ Many current staffers were willing and prepared to make the move with their leader, trading deep dish and snow for Dodger Dogs and sunshine, but according to an insider, they won’t get that chance.
“He didn’t offer interviews to many people who have been with him since beginning, and hurt lots of people who would move on their own to LA to be part of the new show,” one staffer told Radar. “Steve never even addressed the staff about it. He never said a word about them all losing their jobs. These are die-hard loyal staff members.”
“The staff were told by the Executive Producer, not Steve,” the insider said. “The EP said that Steve would talk to them and then he never did. Not even an email saying ‘thanks for what you do’, or ‘good luck.’”
His departure from Chicago, and his loyal employees, has left no one laughing, according to the staffer. “The only contact the staff has heard about the show moving to L.A. with Steve was an email sent at the beginning of year that basically said not to stop him in the office, that he was too busy to talk.” Harvey’s reps did not immediately respond to Radar’s request for comment.
Damn…when it rains, it pours. But if the staffer’s side of the story is accurate, then Harvey brought this particular backlash on himself. Only time will tell. But in the meantime, Harvey and crew announced how excited he was about the move in a press release:
“As I embark on this new adventure, I’m excited to explore everything Los Angeles has to offer for this new show. […] ‘STEVE’ is going to be different than my current daytime show. The new location will allow me to welcome more celebrity guests and more importantly, let me do what I enjoy doing best, being funny!”
Doesn’t sound like Steve is sweatin’ those reported employee complaints at the present moment. Maybe he’s somewhere de-stressing to some of his favorite soul music classics…y’all know Steve is one of the biggest soul music lovers around. Reminisce with us below to the days when Steve wasn’t necessarily at the center of controversy (video contains soul classics, Harvey, and graphic language)…
