Carl posted a video online of himself as he was being evacuated. In his video he asked for everyone to pray for the city of Houston, TX and he also held his head high, while assuring everyone that things will ultimately be okay:

“I’m evacuating…y’all pray for Houston. But…I’m not really worried ultimately because I know that whatever happens, it’s gon’ be alright…it’s gon’ be alright.”

It’s SO sad to see what the people of Texas are going through right now and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Houston and the surrounding areas that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. The images of the aftermath are very reminiscent of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, La. nearly 12 years ago, where thousands of people died in the wake of the hurricane. FYI: Thousands of New Orleans natives have also become permanent residents of Houston, TX ever since being evacuated there during Hurricane Katrina and many of them are now reliving the same devastation all over again.

Thankfully, the death toll from Harvey is far less severe, but still sad nonetheless. A total of 5 people so far have reportedly lost their lives and hundreds more are still waiting to be rescued.

There will be even more flooding now because the US Corp of Engineers has announced they’ll be releasing water from two dams in the Houston area:

Via MSN: “If we don’t begin releasing now, the volume of uncontrolled water around the dams will be higher and have a greater impact on the surrounding communities,” said Col. Lars Zetterstrom, Galveston District commander of the Corps.
