the film produced by herself and one of her two co-stars, Michael Ealy, The Perfect Guy, (also starring Morris Chestnut) was a hit this past weekend. It showed that African American casted movies are not just limited to Tyler Perry themes (we dig Perry’s movies by the way, so that’s no diss to him). The Perfect Guy earned between $10.4M to $10.7M on it’s first day (September 11, 2015) making it No. 1 at the box office. It’s being predicted the film will rake in $26M to $28M+ for it’s opening week. This is the second time in the last few weeks (Straight Outta Compton was the other major success) that a predominately Black movie has topped the box office, so it’s refreshing that it’s now being discovered, or shall I say re-discovered that African Americans have a variety of interests, not just one.
