Marvin Gaye also became very much in tuned with the ills of society in the 70’s, thus creating the much needed song “What’s Going On” against the wishes of Berry Gordy, who later realized that it was a genius move on the part of Gaye.

Marvin was heavy into his drug addiction to cocaine (although he was attempting to rehab at the time of his death) when his father murdered him in 1984.
