Denzel Washington has something to say! In fact, fans are so shocked about his statement, it’s gone viral on social media. While on the red carpet at the premiere of his new film Fences, Denzel was asked a question that garnered quite a response. One reporter asked the famed actor about his opinion of fake news outlets.
For those who don’t know Denzel found himself at the center of scrutiny when a report claimed he’d jumped political ships to support Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. His response will blow you away.
Blasting the Media:
According to The Independent, Denzel fired back at the journalist with an interesting question of his own. Then, he blasted fake news outlets for damaging the credibility of real news. “If you don’t read the newspaper you’re uniformed. If you do read it you’re misinformed. That’s a great question,” Washington fired back swiftly. “What is the long-term effect of too much information?
“One of the effects is the need to be first, not even to be true anymore. So what a responsibility you all have; to tell the truth, not to just be first, but to tell the truth. We live in a society now where it’s just first. Who cares? Get it out there. We don’t care who it hurts, we don’t care who we destroy, we don’t care if it’s true. Just say it, sell it.”
Going Viral:
Denzel’s epic response quickly began circulating on Twitter and now the clip has been retweeted more than 30,000 times. Although Denzel seemed to be a bit annoyed by the question, he smiled politely before moving forward.
