Whoopi Goldberg has revealed the shocking reason she has been away from The View. The Ghost actress revealed she has been battling pneumonia in both lungs and nearly died of sepsis.
“I’m Not Dead”
“I am here,” Goldberg reassured fans in a pre-recording. “I am up and moving around, not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am OK. I’m not dead.”
The 63-year-old revealed that she had pneumonia in both lungs which became “septic.” Sepis is a potentially life-threatening condition spread via the bloodstream, according to Web MD.
“I Was Close To Leaving The Earth”
Goldberg admitted that she almost lost her battle with sepsis. “And yes,” she continued, “I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news: I didn’t.”
“Thank you for all of your good wishes, all of the wonderful things that people have been saying. Even people who aren’t huge fans of mine have actually been saying nice thing about me,” Goldberg joked.
The Academy Award winner ended her message by promising to tell her co-hosts about her health scare “when we’re all at the table.” She then blew a kiss and signed off with the words, “see you soon.”
