Viewers Thought Goldberg Was Hosting The Oscars

Goldberg has been away from The View since February 5. Her co-host Joy Behar simply told fans the Hollywood star was taking a day off. Then on February 20, Behar revealed that her colleague was recovering from  pneumonia.

At the time, Goldberg’s extended absence from the show sparked rumors that she had been secretly preparing to host the 91st Academy Awards ceremony. Comedian Kevin Hart dropped out of the show over a controversy concerning homophobic tweets.

But Behar soon poured cold water on that rumor. “There are all these conspiracy theories on the Internet that she’s not really sick and she’s secretly preparing to host the Oscars.” Behar said. 

Goldberg is one of only 15 entertainers who have achieved the coveted EGOT status by winning an Emmy, a Grammy, and Oscar and a Tony. She has previously hosted the Academy Awards four times, most recently in 2002.
