When Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States, millions looked on in utter shock, probably including Trump himself. That day was January 20, 2017 and the following day, on January 21, 2017, up to 5.2 million women and others protested against Trump for the first Women’s Day March, in what became the largest single day march in U.S. history.
The Women’s March was focused on several topics that Trump has either offended, or threatened to greatly negatively impact. It’s purpose is ‘to advocate legislation and policies regarding human rights and other issues, including women’s rights, immigration reform, healthcare reform, reproductive rights, the natural environment, LGBTQ rights, racial equality, freedom of religion, and workers’ rights,’ as reported by Wikipedia.
Now, on the 1 year anniversary of Trump’s presidency, many more people across the country took to the streets in major cities, including Washington D.C., New York, NY, Denver, Co. and more. Among the people protesting against Trump, were many celebs who took to the streets to join their fellow citizens.

Whoopi Goldberg
Whoopi Goldberg made a surprise appearance at the march as well and explained why women everywhere are a part of the resistance against Trump, sexism, gender bias and more, “whether you like it or not.” In an interview with Buzzfeed during the march this Saturday, Whoopi had a whole lot to say:
Whoopi on the need for women to utilize their voice…
“We don’t always agree with each other, but as women we know that we have to make sure that all of the things we fought for don’t move,” the actor and host of The View said. “Listen, you’re part of the resistance whether you like it or not. It’s just the way it is.”
On what we all can do to create a positive impact…
“Not everybody can come out and do this, not everybody can march,” Goldberg said. “But you can do little things. Make sure you vote. Whether you vote the way I think or whether you vote the way somebody else thinks, it’s not important. You vote what you believe and then you stand tall and you defend what you believe, and that’s how we do this. That’s how America is supposed to work.”
Whoopi also spoke on why she refuses to be a quiet celebrity when it comes to the many social matters Trump has fueled…
“I have a different responsibility in the world because I actually am around a lot of different people and I do hear a lot of stories,” Goldberg said. “So I want to pass it on so that you can not be willfully ignorant. For me, there are things that I think everybody should be aware of,” she continued. “I don’t say, ‘You have to think like me.’ I just want to make you aware.”
