“Empire” is one of the best, if not the best show on TV right now and a couple weeks ago it was reported by many websites that “Empire’s” co-creator and director, Lee Daniels, recently ran into Berry Gordy and allegedly told him the show was partially inspired by him. It’s clear to see that there are many similarities between the “Lucious Lyon” and Berry Gordy dynasties, so we decided to put together this list of the “Lucious Lyon” versus the Berry Gordy family ties, so you could easily connect the pieces of this complex puzzle. So from the looks of it, somebody might be owed a check…LOL. I’ve still got love for the show though!

I also see parts of Jimmy Iovine (co-counder of Interscope records), Tommy Mottolla (former head of Sony Music), and a few other music execs in Lucious’ dynasty too, but since there are a lot of similarities between Berry’s “empire” and the show, “Empire” this list was inspired.

Motown was a family dynasty ran by Berry and his family mostly.
Lucious and his family keep the money rolling in for Empire.

– “Lucious” has a connection to the criminal world.

– For years, many have claimed Motown was started with mob money. Motown founder Berry Gordy vehemently denies the allegation to this day.
