Winans Son/Bad Boy Records Singer Jailed For 2nd Time In One Year, Now Faces Prison Time

Mario Winans

A member of the legendary gospel family is now facing some years in prison. Many of us know Grammy Award winning singer/producer, Mario Winans as being gospel singer, Vickie Winans’ son. We also know him as the Bad Boy Records singer on P. Diddy’s 2002 hit, I Need A Girl pt. 2,” featuring Ginuwine and Loon and also for his hit, “I Don’t Wanna Know.”

His biggest accomplishments though, are as a mega hit-maker in R&B, hip hop, and gospel, having produced a ton of hits for Bad Boy, R. Kelly, Eminem, Whitney Houston, his aunt Cece Winans, and many more. Now that we’re all caught up on who Mario Winans is, let us explain why he’s now becoming known as the member of the legendary Winans gospel family who’s been getting arrested.

His Recent Arrest

Mario was just arrested for the second time in one year. According to Bossip, the brotha was arrested for not paying his child support for his 12 year old son and his bill is so massive, the police had to raid his home. See details below:

Via Bossip: Officers from the Bergen County Sheriffs Department raided the former Bad Boy Records artist’s home Fort Lee, NJ Wednesday morning after he amassed a massive debt of more than $171,000 in back child support, according to public records. He was arrested without incident, and his bail figure is the dollar amount of the child support owed, a spokesman for the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office told Bossip.

TMZ reports that he bailed out of jail on Friday morning, after making a promise to the judge. But he walked out with an ankle monitor just in case he doesn’t keep his promise:

In docs, Mario says he makes about $3,000 per month off his songwriting. He told the court he could secure a loan to immediately pay off $10,000 off the debt. That satisfied the judge enough that Winans was released, but with a GPS ankle monitor.

It was also reported that in 2015 he was arrested after he stopped paying the court mandated $3500 child support payments. But there’s more…

His Tax Arrest

Mario Winans was already out on bail from a pending federal case, where he’s facing jail. According to NBC-NY, Mario’s prior arrest was on September 29, 2016 for tax fraud. He “intentionally” didn’t file federal tax returns from 2008-2012, when he made over $2.8 million. He owes the IRS $400K and is facing 2 years in prison.

We know sometimes, times are hard, and maybe that’s what Mario is going through, who knows. But whatever the reason, he better try to figure out a plan to get outta this mess, because it looks like his baby momma, nor the IRS are gonna let him stick ’em for their paper.
