About two months after Quincy’s open letter to his father heated up the internet in 2009, Al B. did an interview with Essence and gave this statement regarding his situation with his estranged son at that time:
“I’m a human being so of course hearing about any family member being disappointed with you is devastating, but what can you do? I’m a human being and my job is to fix it. […] I will not engage in a private family matter with the public, but I will say that Quincy is the most wonderful, kind young man in the world, and whatever he and I are going through we are going to work it out and that’s all that counts.”

Although Quincy said he will always view Diddy as his father and credits him with teaching him everything he knows, he has forgiven his dad, Al B. Sure, for abandoning him and says he does not regret airing out his grievances with Al B. publicly. Al B. has worked to gain his son’s trust trust back and this just shows that it’s never too late to right your wrongs. They are in a much better space now and Quincy’s other dad, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, has and always will support his son, Quincy, as well…
