It’s not surprising to see men in costumes in October but typically they’re at Halloween parties and not robbing banks.
Give It To Me Baby!
In Indianapolis, Indiana, 2 men dressed in the most creative costumes police officers had ever seen. The 2 armed and unidentified men dressed as none other than Rick James and Youngblood Priest from the classic 1970’s movie Super Fly.
The men dressed as Rick James and Super Fly didn’t enter Advance America bank in Indiana on September 15th looking for candy. They entered the bank with a note to the bank teller that said, ” Give It To Me, Baby”. Like smooth criminals, the men walked out with a large undisclosed amount of cash.
Well, the note didn’t exactly say that but they got away without capture.
Feeling victorious, the men decided to rob another bank in the same costumes!
One of the suspects was wearing a wig with long braids and beads similar to funk superstar Rick James, and police believed he may also have robbed the Indiana Members Credit Union in the same city on Sept. 20th.
Superfreaks!
While they still were dressed as the iconic characters, the robbers wore the same Rick James and Youngblood Priest disguises, but were outfitted in different clothing.
In addition to their wigs and hats, the men were wearing black from head to toe and added dark sunglasses to further conceal their identities during the robbery.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have released stills from the surveillance footage and appeared to the public for more information. Police said the FBI is assisting in the investigation.
Descriptions of the suspects revealed they are both around 5 ft 10 inches in height.
They both sported orange safety vests and the Youngblood Priest robber was also wearing an Indianapolis Colts hat.
Rick James is famous for 1980’s hits such as Super Freak and Give It To Me Baby. Super Fly, most famous for its Curtis Mayfield soundtrack, is a 1972 blaxploitation film that follows a cocaine dealer named Youngblood Priest as he tries to quit the drug business.
